Law Minister Anisul Huq, who is now on an official visit to Japan, called on Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) President Shinichi Kitaoka at its headquarters in Tokyo on Monday.
During the meeting, the JICA president assured the law minister of continuing the agency’s assistance in developing Bangladesh. Reciprocating the gesture, Anisul assured the JICA chief of providing maximum security to the organization officials working in different development projects in Bangladesh, adding, “Japanese investors will also get proper security and be provided with the legal assistance for the convenience of their investment.
Expressing his grief over the killings of Japanese citizens in Holey Artisan Bakery attack in Gulshan, the law minister said the perpetrators of that monstrous attack will be brought to justice for sure. Earlier, the minister called on his Japanese counterpart Katsutoshi Kaneda. Japanese Justice Minister Kaneda assured Anisul of assisting Bangladesh in modernizing its judiciary and legal system.
Terming Japan as the unfeigned friend of Bangladesh, Anisul said, “Bangladesh always recalls the assistance of Japan in our development with much respect.” He at that time informed the Japanese minister of different activities of Bangladesh government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in eliminating corruption from society and establishing the rule of law. The law minister also had meetings with mayor of Hiroshima Matsui Kazumi, Osaka Chief Prosecutor Kazumine Terawaki, Justice Toshimitsu Yamazaki of Japanese Supreme Court and director general of Legal Training and Research Institute of Japan Sakuma Tatsuya, among others.
Legislative and Parliament Affairs Division Secretary Mohammad Shahidul Haque, Law and Justice Division Secretary Abu Saleh Sheikh Md Zahirul Haque, Joint Secretary Bikas Kumar Saha, law minister’s private secretary M Masum, were present on the occasions.
