A three-member delegation led by Yasuhiro Kawazoe, Senior Representative of Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) called on Dhaka University (DU) Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Md. Akhtaruzzaman on Thursday at the latter’s office of the university.
Other team members of JICA were Koji Mitomori and Alimul Hasan. Treasurer of DU Prof. Dr. Md. Kamal Uddin and Professor of the Department of Electrical & Electronic Engineering Dr. Subrata Kumar Aditya were present on this occasion.
During the meeting the Vice-Chancellor stressed the need for undertaking joint collaborative academic and research programmes among DU and other renowned universities across the world to produce skilled human resources at the university.
They discussed the possibilities of establishment of a new project titled “Bangladesh-Japan Interdisciplinary Institute” at DU with the financial assistance form JICA.
The Vice-Chancellor said, joint collaborative academic and research programmes have been conducted by the University of Dhaka and different universities in Japan for long time.
He sought cooperation and help from JICA to strengthen these ongoing collaborative programmes.
