A jhut (garment rags) godown was gutted as a fire that broke out at Namabazar in Tongi Mill Gate area here on Saturday afternoon.
Tongi fire service sources said the fire broke out around 12.30pm and soon engulfed the whole godown.
On information, five firefighting units from Sadar, Joydebpur and Uttara fire stations rushed to the spot. The firefighters are still trying to douse the blaze.
The reason behind the fire could not be known yet.
