Jhumu Khan is a professional doctor. Before becoming doctor she started her career in music. In 1994, her first solo album titled Chondrima Raatey was released. A song of that album titled Pan Khaite Chun Lagey got popularity during that time. Composed by Manam Ahmed Hasan Motiur Rahman wrote lyrics of the song. Due to popularity of the song it was also used in Tozammel Haque Bokul’s movie Banshiwala.
But for movie Jhumu first lent her voice for a play-back song in Manna-Champa-starred movie Prem Diwana. During that time her debut was done by the name of Jahanara Ferdous Khan Jhumu as the play-back singer. Later Jhumu also lent her voice with Shakila Sharma in film Moushumi, in Shabnur’s debut movie Chandni Raatey, in film Hangor Nodi Grande, among others.
Sorol Mone, Dui Liner Chithi Dilana and Hridoye Tumi are Jhumu’s other released solo albums. Her last solo album titled Ojanai was released in 2013 under the banner of DLM. Then she was not found in music due to her engagement as a doctor increased. But she wants to continue music sometimes.
While talking about her music career Dr Jhumu Khan said, “In fact, now I am enjoying listening music rather than rendering song. I grew up to listen songs of Runa Apa, Shahnaz Apa and Sabina Apa. Later Samina Apa and Fahmida Apa’s songs also touched my mind. I enjoy songs of many singers of this generation. When I like lyrics and music composition then I hear the song. A new trend is seen in songs of present time. From that point of view, I want to render song. Now time will say what will be happened.”
Today is Jhumu Khan’s birthday. Jhumu informed that after passing sometimes at her son Elham’s school, she will go to a school in Segunbagicha where she will distribute scholarships to the destitute children. Later as a part of her professional work, she will give time to her Laser Medical Centre Ltd in the capital’s Gulshan area till evening. Then she will give time to her family.
It is noted that Jhumu Khan is daughter of legendary film producer AKM Jahangir Khan who was called ‘Movie Mughal’ in the country.
