Police detain woman with air guns
Police in Jhenidah detained a woman with 10 Indian air guns from Baraobazer area of Kaliganj uppazila in Jheneidah on Tuesday night. The detained was side2ntified as Antara Khatun, 23, wife of Safiqul Islam Shafi of Chougachha Upazila in Jessore. Barobazar police station Sub-Inspector Tariqul Islam said, a team of contingent of police conducted a drive in the area acting on a tip-off and arrested Antara while she and her cohorts were carrying the firearms on a three wheeler easybike. The cohorts, including her husband managed to flee, the sub inspector said.Antora was allegedly involved in drug and arms trading in th locality. A case was filed and the detained was sent tio a Jheneidah cognizance court for further proceedings, the police said.
Dredger engaged in sand lifting set on fire
A mobile court in Sailkupa of Jhenaidah set a sand lifting dredger and other equipment on fire on Thursday noon. Assistant Commissioner ( Land) also an Executive Magistrate SM Munim Linkan conducted the drive on a boat over River Kali.The executive magistrate said, a number of unscrupulous people in the locality were allegedly involved in sand lifting with dredger machine form near the Bridge of Kali River for past few months. He had warned them not to lift the sand that might affect the bridge. But they did not care. Rather they were engaged in doing so. The miscreants engaged in lifting the sand managed to flee, while mobile court seized the machineries and set them on fire on the boat in the river during the drive. The drives by the mobile court will continue to nab the miscreants, the executive magistrate said.
Jhenaidah Diabetic Hospital serving patients
Jhenaidah Diabetic Samity, an association for the welfare of the diabetics in Jhenaidah has been serving the ailing community. Not only the Medicare services, but also conducting awareness on changing the lifestyle, their food habit and maintain discipline for a beet life for each and everybody.Starting the association based activities in a room near Old Munsef Court at Jhenaidah in 1993, they were running diabetes checking and primary treatment to the locals, especially the elderly people. As the demand for the services increased, it was shifted to own building at Chhotokamarkundu village at east side of Jhenaidah-Jessore highway. Abide the people with diabetes, the society running a full-phlased hospital with 24 beds. It is the lone indoor service providers in Khulna division where the patients can be provided treatment and other at 30 to 40 least costs than the private hospitals and clinics, authorities said. According to the hospital sources, they have been providing all types of treatment including surgery like other general hospitals with their skilled and specialized doctors, nurses and administrative persons both in the outdoor and indoor to serve better for the people. The patients rush at the hospital, was major female of middle aged. Aleya Khatun, 55, a patient with severe diabetes said, she rushed the hospital and provided treatment with the cordial touch of love and affection of the physicians and staff both that helps to get relief from the havoc. Now she feels better with only three months treatment with least costs, Aleya Khatun said.
Mahmudul Islam Foton, General Secretary of Diabetic Association of Bangladesh (DAB) Jhenaidah unit said, they have been providing investigations and advices like pathology, X-Ray, ultra-sonogram, electro cardiography, eye, dental, physiotherapy, health education (discipline) and other services to the patients. Surgical services were a great job for the hospital at lower costs benefiting poor people.
Some most important machinery like auto analyzer, 4D colour doppler, modern ultra sonogram machine could play more effective role to ensure better services for the patients a lower costs.
Fake physician punished
A mobile court in Jhenidah has punished a fake physician and the owner of a diagnostic centre on Thursday noon. An assistant commissioner and executive magistrate of the office of the deputy commissioner Sohel Sultan Julker Nayeen Kabir passed the order. The fake physician was identified as Maniruzzaman, son of Komarpur village of Chowgachha upazila in Jessore.
The court sources said, acting on tip off, the mobile court led by assistant commissioner and executive magistrate of the office of the deputy commissioner Sohel Sultan Julker Nayeen Kabir conducted drives at Janani diagnostic complex at Puratan Hatkhola area in the municipal town and arrested Maniruzzaman when he was examining patients in the guises of a graduate physician.
