Bullet-hit body recovered

Police recovered a bullet-hit body from near Baromashi bridge at Kakiladari village area under Kotchandpur upazila of the district on Wednesday morning. The deceased was identified as Masum Billah, 25 son of Sajib Uddin of Rail stationpara under the upazila. Police said, at around 10-00 am on Wednesday morning, they found a bullet- hit body lying near Baromashi bridge at Kakiladari village area. On information police reached the spot and recovered the body. Masum’s wife Nasrin Begum told this correspondent that Masum was sleeping with her and their daughter Sultana at his grandfather’s house at Andulbaria village in Chuadanga district on Monday night (17.03.14). At around 3:00 am 10/12 armed men reached the house and introduced themselves as police of Kotchandpur police station. They dragged from the house and took away at Andulbaria bazaar where the pick van was kept. They claimed that police have shot him dead. Officer- in -charge (OC) Shajahan Ali Khan of Kotchandpur police station denied the allegation of his family members.
One killed, 6 injured in road accident
One person was killed and six others injured when a passenger bus and locally assembled three wheelers had made a head on collusion near Kala-Lakkhipur area on Jhenidah-Dhaka highway on Saturday evening. The deceased was identified as Sudeb Kundu, 60, son of Gakul Chandra Kundu of Naraharidra village under Jhenidah sadar upazila. The injured were rushed to admit in to Magura sadar hospital.In charge of Hatgopalpur police outpost Abdul Momin said, on Saturday evening at around 7-00 pm a Chuadanga bound speedy bus from Dhaka, JR Paribahan had hit the three wheeler leaving Sudeb Kundu dead on the spot. Sudeb and others were traveling on the three wheelers. The killer bus managed to flee immediately.
Youth killed in road crash
A youth was killed in a road crashed at Bishoykhali bazaar on Jhenidah-Jessore road under Jhenidah sadar upazila on Tuesday afternoon. The deceased was identified as Imran Hossain, 18 son of Sahidul Islam of Bishoykhali village of the upazila.Officer in charge (OC) Iqbal Bahar Chowdhury of sadar police station said, on Tuesday afternoon at around 6:00 pm Imran was going to Bishoykhali bazaar riding on a bi-cycle. When he was trying to cross the Jhenidah-Jessore road at Bishoykhali bazar a Jhenidah bound speedy truck ran over Imran, leaving him died on the spot.On information police reached the spot and recovered the body and sent to Jheidah sadar hospital morgue for an autopsy.
Drug trader held
Sailkupa thana police in Jhenidah arrested a drug peddler with 30 kilograms of Ganja from Padamdi village under Sailkupa upazila on Sunday night. The arrested was identified as Nasir Uddin Mollah, son of Fatik Mollah of the village. He was involved with drug selling for a long.Sailkupa police officer in charge (OC) Mollah Manir Uddin said, the police acting on a tip off, had droved in the village in the mid night of Sunday. They arrested Nasir Uddin and recovered and recovered 30 kilograms of Ganja from the cowshed of the arrested.Jhenidah police additional superintendent (ASP) Mohammad Hasanuzzaman said, Nasir Uddin was involved in selling Ganja and other drugs at Islamic University area for last couple of years.
Woman killed in road misshap
An elderly woman was killed in a road crashed near Boishaky oil pump area of Kaligonj upazila town in Jhenidah on Friday noon. The deceased was identified as Sahara Begum, 55, wife of late Haran Ali of Farashpur village under Kaligonj upazila in Jhenidah.Officer in charge (OC) Monir Uddin Mollah of Kaligonj police station said, on Friday morning at around 11:00 am Sahara was coming to Kaligonj upazila town for her treatment. When she was trying to cross the road near Boishaky oil pump area of the upazila town a speedy human huller hit her leaving serious injured. Instantly, locals rushed to Kaligonj local health complex where she succumbed to injures at around 2:00 pm.
