On December 6, Jhenidah district was freed from the clutch of occupied Pak Army and their associates in 1971. Immediately after the visit of Bangubandhu Seikh Mujibur Rahman, the people of Jhenidah had taken the initiatives to fight against the Pak soldiers through non-cooperation movement.
As three platoons Army personnel could not go back to Jessore cantonment due to non-cooperation movement, they were agitated and ran their attack on the innocent people in the area. They set fire many of the houses and business establishment that led a number of fights between their Paak occupiers and their collaborators.
The Awami Sechchasebak Bahini played a vital role during the period. Since March 11 in the year, the freedom loving people started gathering. On March when Dhaka city went under the occupation of the Pakistani soldiers, they brave people had taken preparation in all six upazilas under the leadership of the then sub-divisional superintendent of police Mahbub Uddin.
The SDPO had arranged black out shutting down the electricity and went on hiding immediately. The occupiers without having any trace of the brave people marched towards Kushtia. The Bengalees made barrier on the roads placing tress and others. On March 28, Tajuddin Ahmed, the first prime minister of the country along with Barister Ahmedul Islam passed night in Jhenidah town in the guiss of common people. They left Jhenidah towards India after fruitful discussions with the freedom loving people, where the SDPO played a role. The brave sons of the sun met a fight with the occupiers near Bishoykhali bazer , about eight kilometre west from the district town. Dukhi Mahmud, Sadar Uddin, Abdul Kuddus, Khalilur Rahman, Golam Mustafa, Nazir Uddin, Enamul Haque and Qazi Badiul were killed during the fight. The information was broadcast by BBC, France news agency, Australia Radio and a number of broadcasters.
A number of fighting including Alfapur Battle, Kamanna Battle, Abaipur Battle took place once after another. Huge Pakistani soldiers and Bengali heroes were killed then.
On April 16, the occupiers were heinous and started massive attack on the Bengalees with the assistances of their collaborators and peace committee members. In last week of November in 1971, the guerillas were prepared to swoop on the occupying soldiers and entered in to Jhenidah district area. They fought against the Pakistani troops and declared the district (then sub division) free from the clutch of the Pakistani Army finally.
