Jhenaigatiupazila of Sherpur district freed on 4th December, 1971.
On that day the people of Bangla freed Jhenaigati defeating the occupation forces of Pakistan.
On March 27, 1971 SherpurSangramParishad leaders Abdul Hamid, Mohshin Ali master and Amzad Ali came to Jhenaigati.They along with then student leader Fakir Abdul Mannan met with Abdul Hamid , Naksi EPI camp commander and declared to save Jhenaigati from the occupation forces of Pakistan. They started a training camp at Rangtia.
27 April,2017 Pakistani occupation forces entered in Jhenaigati bazar. They set up camps in Shalchura ,Nakshi, Haldigram, Tawakucha and Mullah Para.
27 November, 1971 freedom fighters led by JafarIkbal attacked the occupation forces camp in Jhenaigati bazar and captured the camp.
Hearing that, other occupation forces camp commanders started to go back.
Thus Jhenaigati was freed without shedding a drop of blood.
On December 4, 1971the freedom fighters flew the flag of independent bangla in Jhenaigati.
