Series of clashes between two rival candidates of ruling Awami League and independent left atleast 31 injured at Hatfazilpur Bazar and Mingram of Sailkupa Upazila on Friday
Of the injured 15 were rushed to Sailkupa Upazila health complex, while some Rabiul Islam was referred to Jhenaidah Sadar hospital in a critical state, said the locals and police.
Locals and the police said, there was a long time enmity between Awami League activist Mokter Ahmed Mridha and another AL man and vateran industrialist and social worker Dulal Biswas in the locality following domination in the area.
Helal Uddin Biswas, a younger brother of Dulal Biswas is contesting in the upcoming union parishad polls as an independent candidate form Abaipur union.
Following the elections more or less village clash has been taking place in the area frequently. Atleast 25 persons sustained injuries in a clash at Hatfazilpur Bazer on Thursday evening. 12 houses were vandalized then.
The police said, clashers also faced each other on Friday evening left at least six persons injured.
AL candidate Mokter Ahmed Mridha in a press conference alleged that the police men of Sailkupa have been harassing his supporters and playing role in favour of of Helal Uddin Biswas.
On the other hand, Helal Uddin denied of any allegation of taking the advantages of police men. He said, Mokter Mridha has been contesting s a ruling party candidate who has been taking the advantages from the government sector.
But as an independent candidate he (Helal) was helpless as he has been contesting with his symbol people against boat with his symbol pineapple .
Helal also alleged that an industrialist on a helicopter appeared in the election area. He addressed the people at Baghni high school which helped the ruling party candidate.

Sailkupa police station officer in charge Mahibul Islam when contacted admitted the series of clashes between the two candidates inbaipur union. He said, the situation was under control.
