When the common and innocent people throughout the country have been facing troubles in getting service from the government office due to alleged corruption and malpractice by some corrupt and dishonest employees, the office of the Assistant Commissioner of Land in Jhenaidah Sadar upazila has set up an instance standing by the innocent people to ensure adequate services in a hassle-free condition.
The office which was in a pitiable condition and the files were kept here and there on the floor of the office, the people providing services in narrow space, was turned to a gorgeous and well decorated workplace with the touch of some one’s magic hand within a few months.
The attractive office at the old DC Court premises in Jhenaidah is enriched with tiles, modern equipments and furnishers. The files are kept in the racks line by line.
A citizen charter at the office of the assistant commissioner of land stating the type of services provided from the office, name of the responsible personnel, rate for each services, time of response from the office and mode of activities, actions of the beneficiaries if the services are not ensured in due time and some other necessary information. Detail information could be ensured if some one presses a certain device button on the computer in the office.
When this correspondent visited the office on Monday witnessed that an office assistant was working at the front desk at the varanda and giving patience hearing to a man rushed for his land related activities. Two other personnel were working with separate computer at the other end of the office room counter.
villager Aravind Kumar rushed at the office when asked said, they had suffer a lot in the office earlier as a number of brokers were active and collected huge additional money from the innocent people. Some of the office staffs had been harassing the common and innocent people instead proper services there. But the scenario was changed totally. Further, the villager said, the environment of the office was changed and seems to be a palacious corner.
In-charge of the office Assistant commissioner of land Osman Gani when contacted said, the deputy commissioner Mahbub Alam Talukder had inaugurated 22 types of innovative and development activities in the office. The number of total development works risen to 32 types within a few months. The office came under the wifi zone, he said.
