Our Correspondent :
The Jharkata River flows between Bhagmara and Shishua villages of Satpoa union in Sarisabari of Jamalpur district. The 180 meter long bridge was built on the Jharkata River in 2006. A year ago, the western ground part of the bridge collapsed from its lower part. As a result, communication with Kazipur Upazila of Sirajganj district and Madarganj Upazila of Jamalpur district was completely cut off.
The bridge regularly carries about 50,000 people from 50 villages. The bridge became unusable last year during Eid-ul-azha when landslides caused by floodwaters. A few sacks of sand were thrown to repair the bridge then.
But due to heavy rains, almost the whole road collapsed due to landslides under the bridge. The expectation of the locals is that if the bridge is permanently renovated, all types of vehicles will be able to move, resulting in economic development of this area.
