A court in Chittagong convicted a jewellery trader named Pankaj Banik with one year jail term in cheque defalcation case/.
Court also fined him with Tk.30 lakh which is e quivalent to cheque amount. Additional metropolitan session judge Abdur Rashid announced this verdict yesterday in his absence.
The convicted Pankaj Banik is the owner of Rupnagar Jewellery of New Market here.
At present Pankaj is now absconding after taking bail earlier.
