A jewellery shop owner was injured when criminals opened fire and exploded bombs while looting his shop at Joina Bazar in Sreepur upazila on Friday evening.
The injured, Debendra Karmokar, 49, is the owner of New Dipa Jewellery of the area.
Quoting locals, Liakat Ali, officer-in-charge of Sreepur Police Station, said a group of unidentified criminals came to the shop by a microbus and two motorcycles around 7:30pm.
They blasted bombs while looting the jewellery and cash from the shop. They opened fire when the staff tried to resist, leaving Debendra injured.
On information, police visited the spot. “We’re trying to identify and arrest the criminals,” the OC said.
