Jessore notched a 20-1 goals victory over Gopalganj in the 26th National Women’s Handball tournament at the Sultana Kamal Women’s Sports Complex in Dhanmondi on Tuesday.
In the other first round matches of the meet at the same venue on the 2nd day, Police crushed Chuadanga by 15-3 goals; Jessore rout Kustia by 14-4 goals; Kishorganj defeated Faridpur by 12-7 goals; Police defeated Faridpur by 10-4 goals; Kushtia beat Narail by 10-9 goals; Narail beat Gopalganj by 8-3 goals and Kishorganj outplayed Chuadanga by 10-2 goals.
In the other first round matches at the Shaheed Captain M Mansur Ali National Handball Stadium, Dinajpur rout Feni by 18-0 goals; Naogaon crushed Panchagarh by 16-7 goals; Dhaka managed a 7-6 victory against Satkhira and Madaripur beat Jamalpur by 4-0 goals.
A total of 18 teams spilt in four groups, including three services and 15 district teams, competing in the week-long national meet, organized by Bangladesh Handball Federation.
