Police detained two leaders of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal and Jatiyatabadi Juba Dal from Nabharan under Sharsha upazila day before the Eid Day, police said. The leaders are Al Mamun Babul, vice president, Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal, Sharsha upazila unit and Ismail Hossain, publicity affairs secretary, Jatiyatabadi Juba Dal of the same upazila unit. Tasmim Alam, officer in-charge (investigation), Sharsha police station claimed that the opposition leaders were arrested along with six hand bombs. But the party sources told that nothing was recovered from the leaders.
Former MP FF Ali Kadar passes away
Former lawmaker and also Sharsha upazila unit president of Bangladesh Nationalist Party Alhaj Ali Kadar died at the age of 82 at a hospital in New York, USA at 3:30pm Bangladesh time. He is survived by two wives, 4 sons, 5 daughters and a host of relatives and well wishers,
Ekramul Kadar Bablu, eldest son of the deceased confirmed. Ali Kadar who was a freedom fighter and served as the president Sharsha upazila unit Bangladesh Nationalist Party till 2003 since the very inception of the party. He was chairman of Benapole UP and also president of Benapole Customs Clearing & Forwarding Agents Association. He was elected lawmaker for Jessore- 1 constituency in 2001.
Police Battalion
BGB intelligence branch sources said the Armed Police Battalion constables realized Tk 1,900 from Indian passport holder Sazal Biswas bearing passport number N- 7656744 after confining him inside Benapole international passengers’ terminal on June 25 afternoon. Being informed the intelligence branch men took the Indian national and the policemen to the BGB camp where the policemen confessed to have the bribe. The BGB then conveyed the information to the high official of the Armed Police Battalion.
