Journo Ripon’s brother dies

Masud Hasan Liton, elder brother of eminent sports reporter and also member of Jessore Press Club Sultan Mahmud Ripon died suddenly at the age of 45 on Monday afternoon. Inna lillai wa inna ilaihi rajiun.
He died at his Jessore town’s Puratan Kashba Lichubagan based residence, family sources said.
Jahid Hasan Tukun, president, Jessore Press Club, SM Tauhidur Rahman, general secretary and Ahsan Kabir, editor, Subornobhumi in separate statements, expressed their condolence at the sad demise of the brother of Ripon.
JUST convocation
 The convocation of Jessore University of Science and Technology (JUST) is scheduled to be held on Thursday, Prof Dr Abdus Sattar, Vice Chancellor said.
The VC told that a total of 604 graduates will be given certificates in the convocation scheduled to be held on November 26. Of the total, 5 students will be given chancellor awards, 5 vice-chancellor awards and 6 dean awards.
President Md Abdul Hamid will present as the chief guest in the convocation, the VC added, ‘arrangements were completed.’
8 opposition party men arrested
 Joint forces arrested a total of 57 people 8 opposition party in overnight raids across the district till Monday morning, a press note issued by the office of the superintendent of police said. Of the arrested, one BNP man, five of Jamaat-e-Islami and two of Islami Chhatra Shibir.
The law enforcement agency men also recovered some illegal drugs during the raids, the press note added.
Village feud leaves 7 wounded
At least seven people were wounded over a village feud between two groups of people at Hidia village under Abhaynagar upazila in Jessore on Sunday evening.
Local and police sources said at least 7 people were wounded as miscreants led by Shahin swooped on the people of their opponent following feud between Shahin and Rafiq at Hidia village. The wounded Abdur Razzak Faki, 50, Tanjad Fakir, 30, Ashraf Biswas, 45, Shirina Begum, 50, Abdul Wahab Gazi, 49, Abbas Gazi, 28 and Abdus Sattar, 70 were rushed to Abhaynagar upazila health complex. Confirming the information, Sheikh Nasir Uddin, officer in-charge, Abhaynagar police station told that police were investigating into the matter.
