Four gamblers held in Jessore

Police arrested four alleged gamblers from Faridpur village of Jessore Sadar upazila on Sunday. The arrestees were identified as Kamrul Islam, 25, Emdadul Haque, 26, Ismail, 28 and Mir Ripon, 35–all residents of the village. Police conducted a drive in a ‘Boishakhi Mela’ at the village around 12:30am and arrested them while they were engaged on a gambling board. Shikdar Akkas Ali, officer-in-charge of Kotowali police station, confirmed the incident. A case was filed in this connection.

Arrest killers of Shahed demanded
Several thousand students of different primary school at Monirampur formed a human chain demanding the arrest of the killers a brilliant student on Thursday. But the police yet to arrest the killers of Sajedur Rahman Shahed, the first boy of class -V of Nehalpur Pre- Cadet School and son of Saifur Rahman of Pachakari village under Monirampur upazila. The decomposed body of the student was recovered from the River Mukteshwari at Teka under adjacent Abhaynagar police station on April 15. Assailants abducted him on April 11. The 11-year child went missing since then. Mollah Khabir Ahmed, officer in-charge, Monirampur police station told that the case was filed with Abhaynagar police station. ‘It is the jurisdiction of Abhaynagar police’, he added. Sheikh Nasir Uddin, officer in-charge, Abhaynagar police station, however, told that a case was lodged with the police station by the father of the victim, Saifur Rahman on April 16 in this connection. ‘None was arrested in this regard till Saturday noon,’ he added.
Asaduzzaman, sub inspector, Bhabadah police camp told newsmen that the decomposed body of the child was recovered afloat from the River Mukteshwari at Teka under Abhaynagar police station on the evening of April 15. ‘The body was wrapped in a sack,’ he added.

Land grabbing Students protested
Agitated students of Benapole Government Primary School blocked the Jessore- Kolkata Highway at Benapole land port protesting at the grabbing of the school land on Saturday.
Sub inspector Monir Hossain of Benapole police station told that students of Benapole Government Primary School blocked Jessore- Kolkata Highway protesting at the grabbing of a portion of land of the school allegedly by Nasir Uddin, younger brother of Rahmat Ali, president, school managing committee at noon. The students removed the blockade after being assured by the police administration later, the police officer added. School sources said Nasir Uddin constructed some business outlets overnight after grabbing 29.5 decimal land of the school. Observing the illegal construction on the school land students of the school blocked the road in protest. Rahmat Ali, president, school managing also admitted the information of grabbing a portion of the school land.

Firebombs, arms seized
Benapole port police recovered four firebombs, a pistol and one round of bullet raiding a residence at Narayanpur under the police station on Friday afternoon.Sub inspector Firoj of Benapole port police station told that the police recovered the firebombs and arms being informed over a mobile phone raiding the residence of Enam Hossain at arayanpur village under the post police station on Friday afternoon. The house owner was arrested in this connection. But the police later came to know that the firebombs and arms were kept at the residence over enmity.
