About forty kilometres area of Jessore – Khulan Highway is still in dire state even after the deadline announced by the communication minister. The minister very recently announced that roads of the county would be fit commuters by July 20.
Commuters had to endure untold sufferings in about 40 kilometre area on Jessore- Khulna Highway. Transports are being facing unbearable troubles on the highway. Breaking down of parts of vehicles on the highway has become regular phenomenon for vehicles that ply on the highway.
Shafiqul Islam, an employee in an NGO is a regular passenger on the highway. He has to go to Jessore from Nawapara industrial town every day except holidays. Talking to New Nation, he said ‘I have to pray to Allah when I am on the road. I have to wait for indefinite time due to deplorable condition of the road.’
Businessman Sirajul Islam is another regular passenger on the highway. ‘I don’t bear the miseries on the road regularly,’ he sighed.
‘I wish for such condition of the road as because it makes my body vibrated regularly which is a good physical exercise for me,’ witted Asaduzzaman, teacher of a private college.
While asked, Ziaul Haider, executive engineer, roads and highways department, told that the highway would be fit for vehicle by 23rd of July.
