An activist of the Jubo League, youth front of the ruling Awami League, was stabbed to death in a factional clash at Kazipara in the district town on Tuesday night.
The deceased was identified as Manik, 35, son of Anwar Hossain, a resident of the area.
Manik was an activist of the district unit of Jubo League.
Officer-in-charge of Kotwali Police Station Sheikh Gani Miah said two groups of the Jubo League unit had been at loggerheads over establishing supremacy in the area.
On Tuesday night, the two groups locked in a clash
over the issue with sharp weapons around 10:50pm, leaving Manik dead on the spot. The body was sent to hospital for an autopsy.
