Victory Month December: Jessore, Jhenaidah Freedom Day celebrated

On December 5 in 1971, Jessore and Jhenidah were freed from the clutches of Pakistan occupation forces.
The day was celebrated in the two districts amid much enthusiasm and in a befitting manner on Tuesday. Different programmes were organised to mark the day.
In Jessore at 10am, a meeting was held in front of deputy commissioner’s office. District Muktijoddha Commander Razek Ahmed and Deputy Commissioner (DC) Dr Humayun Kabir spoke at the meeting.
Later, DC released balloons, and after a chorus song, a colourful procession was brought out which after parading the town roads, ended at Bakultala Mural in the town.
After this, floral wreaths on behalf of the district administration and Muktijoddah Sangsad were placed on the mural.
JHENIDAH: To mark the day, Jhenidah district unit of Bangladesh Muktijoddha Sangsad brought out a rally on Tuesday morning from old DC court premises and it paraded the town roads.
At least 500 freedom fighters from six upazilas of the district participated in the rally.
Among others, District Commander of Muktijoddha Sangsad’s district chapter Md. Makbul Hossain, freedom fighter Advocate Azizur Rahman, Mahmudul Hasan Foton, Siddik Ahmed, and Mohiuddin Master also attended the event.
