Actress Jennifer Lawrence will star in upcoming film Marita – about Marita Lorenz who had an affair with Fidel Castro and was involved in a CIA assassination attempt on the Cuban leader. Sony Pictures has acquired rights to the story of Lorenz’s life after a bidding war against Universal Pictures, Warner Bros, Fox, Paramount and Lionsgate, reports variety.com.Lawrence received her fourth Academy Award nomination last week for Joy, for which she won a Golden Globe. Earlier, she won the Best Supporting Actress Oscar for Silver Linings Playbook and received nominations for American Hustle and Winter’s Bone. Lorenz, a native of Germany, was incarcerated at the Bergen-Belsen concentration camp during World War II. After she had an affair at the age of 19 with Castro, she was approached by the CIA to kill him.
