Bangladesh NAP Chairman Jebel Rahman Gani and National Democratic Party (NDP) Chairman Golam Mortuza were expelled by some general members of their respective parties on Tuesday night for severing ties with BNP led 20 party alliance.
Jebel Rahman Gani and Golam Mortuza severed relations with the 20 party allaiance on Monday accusing BNP of keeping them in dark about forming the Jatiya Oikya Front.
The Jatiya Oikya Front was formed on October 13 comprising BNP, Jatiya Oikya Prakriya led by Kamal Hossain, Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal led by ASM Abdur Rob and Nagarik Oikya led by Mahmudur Rahman Manna.
On the other hand, few leaders of Bangladesh the NAP and the NDP expelled their party Chairmen and Secretary Generals accusing them of violating party constitutions.
MN Shawon Sadeki a leader of Bangladesh NAP said in a statement that they have expelled party’s Chairman Jebel Rahman Gani and Secretary General M. Golam Mostafa Bhuiyan as they acted against the party discipline.
“Jebel Rahman Gani and Golam Mostafa Bhuiyan were working against the interests of the 20 party alliance. So they have been relieved. We are with the BNP-led alliance as we were before,” said Shawon Sadeki claiming himself as the new President.
The party’s policy making forum decided it in a meeting on Tuesday night.
Contrarily, Jebel Rahman Gani and M. Golam Mostafa Bhuiyan expelled Shawon Sadeki accusing him of creating chaos in the party. Similar situation emerged in the NDP.
Chairman Golam Mortuza and Secretary General Monjur Hossain Esa on Tuesday expelled its Presidium Member M. Muttakim Hossain, accusing him of working against party discipline.
The same day M. Muttakim Hossain expelled its party Chairman Golam Mortuza and Secretary General Monjur Hossain Esa.
Ziaul Haque, a leader of NDP said as Publicity Secretary of the party in a statement that the party had expelled its Chairman and Secretary General on the very same ground.
M. Muttakim Hossain is the new Chairman and Osman Gani is the acting Secretary General of the party.
The statement also said that the NDP will stay with the BNP lead alliance continuously.
In the latest incident, there is no clear message from the BNP about the new leaders of NDP and Bangladesh NAP. Senior leaders, said they may be welcomed and the party status in the alliance will remain the same.
BNP Senior Joint-Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi on Wednesday said, “Some traitors have left the alliance for their personal benefits, but it has no adverse impact on the BNP-led alliance.”
He said the 20 party alliance will remain unchanged.
Rizvi said it in a press briefing at the party’s Nayapalton central office.
He said the alliance will surge ahead with its democratic minded allies.
Earlier on 2014, Sheikh Shawkat Hossain Nilu, Chairman of National Peoples Party (NPP), Hashmat Ali Chairman of NAP Bhasani and Alamgir Majumdar, Secretary General of NDP, quit the BNP-led alliance.
But the BNP alliance remained unaffected as Dr. Fariduzzaman Farhad Secretary General of NPP expelled Nilu and was staying with the 20 party alliance.
Similarly, Azharul Islam acting President of NAP Bhasani expelled Hashmat Ali and Golam Mortuja, President of NDP and expelled its Secretary General Alamgir Majumdar and stay with the 20 party alliance.
In such a way, the 20 party alliance remained unhurt even when the Islami Oikya Jote faction broke its ties few years ago.
BNP-led alliance was formed in April 2012 with 18 political parties and later expanded with two more political parties.
