The Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court of Dhaka on Tuesday granted a one-day remand for Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) President Rajib Ahsan in an arson case filed with Rampura Police Station of the city.
Magistrate Yusuf Hossain of the CMM Court passed the order after hearing on a ten-day remand plea on Tuesday. The Investigation Officer of the case and Sub-Inspector of
the Detective Branch of police Shafiqur Rahman appealed to the court for the remand.
A police officer of Rampura Police Station filed an arson case against JCD President Rajib following the arson attack on a passenger bus of ‘Pracheshta Paribahan’ in the city’s Malibagh intersection area on February 3 of this year.
Police arrested JCD top leader Rajib Ahsan with five others from Patuakhali on July 19. The police allegedly recovered 45 Yaba tablets from the JCD leader. Meanwhile, he was put on remand in several cases.
