A local leader of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) was hacked to death by some unidentified miscreants at Raghunathpur village in Nazirpur upazila on Tuesday night. The deceased was identified as Shamsul Haque alias Chhoto, 25. Chhoto was organising secretary of Nazirpur upazila unit of JCD.
He was nephew of BNP-backed chairman candidate of Sheikhmatia union Towhid Chairman.
Officer-in-charge of Nazirpur Police Station M Nasiruddin Mallik said on Tuesday afternoon, Chhoto took part in an election campaign with his maternal uncle Towhid. In the evening, he along with his friend Jahangir, also a BNP leader, was returning home from Raghunathpur riding a motorcycle.
