A Dhaka court has sent Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) General Secretary Habibur Rashid Habib to jail in an arson and vandalism case filed with the Shahbagh Police Station.
The Sub-Inspector Md Azim of Shahbagh Thana on Saturday produced him in a Dhaka Court with 10-day remand prayer. The hearing would be held today (Sunday).
Immigration authorities at Shahjalal International Airport arrested Habibur Rashid Habib moments before his departure for abroad early Saturday.
Shah Alam, Officer-in-Charge of Airport Police Station, said that Immigration police at the
airport arrested Habib at about 4am when he was waiting there for a flight.
There is a restriction on Habib’s leaving the country, as a case is pending against him, the OC said.
Later, the JCD leader was handed over to the Detective Branch of Police, said Airport police.
