Two rival groups of Chittagong city unit of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) locked into a factional clash in the port city during a celebration programme of the National Revolution and Solidarity Day on Saturday afternoon.
To celebrate the day, the leaders and activists of city unit BNP hosted a programme at its party office Nasiman Bhaban at around 4:00pm.
At that time, two groups loyal to city unit JCD President Gazi Sirajullah and General Secretary Belayet Hossain Bulu locked into a clash over establishing supremacy while Dr Shahdat, General Secretary of City BNP, was delivering his speech at the programme.
Both the groups chased and counter chased each other for several times. The situation however became normal with the intervention of the senior party leaders.
But, there were no report of injuries in the incident.
Presided over by City BNP Vice President Abu Sufian, the programme was addressed by Secretary of Children’s Affaires Begum Rosy Kabir among others.
Phensydil recovered: Double Mooring Thana police arrested a drug peddler and recovered six bags of Phensydil from a microbus from Dewanhat area under Double Mooring Thana recently. On information police searched the microbus in Dewanhat area and recovered several thousand Yaba tablets and six bags of phensydil.
Police detained several persons seated in the microbus, but after interrogation they were freed except the microbus driver.
