The post-deprived dissident leaders of the Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD), the student wing of the BNP, and their followers have become active again against the new committee of the organisation.
The JCD men on Tuesday afternoon gathered in front of the BNP’s Nayapaltan central office in the city and staged demonstration. They demanded removal of BNP’s student affairs secretary Shaheed Uddin Chowdhury Annie and former JCD president Sultan Salahuddin Tuku from their duty of monitoring, crenellation of the new central committee and withdrawal of expulsion of some dissident JCD leaders.
They urged the high-command of the BNP to meet the demands, otherwise, they won’t be responsible if anything is happened, they warned. Javed Hossian Swadhin, former vice president of the organisation, said that if the high-command doesn’t meet their demands, they would launch new programmes of movement soon.
The JCD men gathered in front of the party office, as seven post-deprived JCD leaders, who got show-cause notices for their alleged involvement in breaking organisational discipline, went to the BNP office to submit the reply of the notices. They submitted their written replies to BNP joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi Ahmed.
Responding to the show-cause notices, the JCD leaders explained their positions over the allegation against them.
Earlier on Monday, a BNP press release signed by Rizvi Ahmed said JCD former organising secretary Anisur Rahman Talukder Khokon and former-vice president Abu Sayeed were expelled from all the posts, including the party’s primary membership, for violating party discipline. The party also asked Javed Hasan Swadhin and six other leaders to show causes appearing in person at Nayapaltan central office by 5:00 pm on Tuesday over the allegation of their activities against party discipline.
The dissident JCD leaders have been protesting the new committee of the JCD since its announcement. On October 14, BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia approved a 201-member partial committee with Rajib Ahsan as president and Akramul Hasan general secretary.
