UNB, Patuakhali :
Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal President Rajib Ahsan, who was arrested here allegedly with drugs, was sent to Dhaka Central Jail on Monday.
Rajib was sent to Dhaka in a prison van around 8am amid tight security, Patuakhali jail super Nazrul Islam told UNB. He said, the JCD chief was shifted to the Dhaka Central Jail as he is scheduled to appear before a Dhaka court on July 29 in another case filed against him in the capital.
On July 19, law enforcers arrested Rajib and his five
associates allegedly with 45 Yaba pills and a bottle of hard liquor in a car at Lebukhali Ferryghat in Dumki upazila. Officer-in-charge of Dumki thana Azam Khan filed a case against them under the Narcotics Control Act.
On July 21, Patuakhali senior chief judicial magistrate court sent Rajib and his associates to jail rejecting their bail prayers. However, BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia and ex-JCD leaders alleged that the information of recovering drug from Rajib is nothing but a hated and conspiratorial drama. They said the government arrested Rajib as part of its evil plan to weaken the opposition’s politics. Rajib has also been facing at least 23 cases filed with different police stations in the capital for street violence.
