A court here on Wednesday placed Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal President Rajib Ahsan on 16 days’ remand in 10 cases filed with Paltan Police Station in the city.
Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Ali Masud Sheikh passed the order when investigation officers of the cases produced the JCD chief before the court on completion of his eight-day remand in another case,
seeking 80 days’ remand.
The court also rejected the bail petitions filed by Rajib’s counsel M Sanaullah Mia. Rajib was shown arrested in the 10 cases filed for violence, arson attacks, obstructing police from discharging their duties and attempted murder with Paltan Police Station during the blockade and hartal. On July 19, law enforcers arrested Rajib and his five associates allegedly with 45 Yaba pills and a bottle of hard liquor in a car at Lebukhali Ferryghat in Dumki upazila.
