One JCD activist was chopped to death and another was one injured over old rivalry in Wajirpur Upazila of Barisal on Thursday night.
Police arrested father one attackers in this connection.
The dead victim was identified as Sohag Sanyamat, 26, JCD activist eldest son of Faruk Sanyamat of Kalibari Road area of the upazila town.
The injured one was Saiful Islam, friend of Sohag.
Anwar Hossain, Wajirpur police station officer in charge , said Sohag was returning home riding motorcycle from Barisal with Jahangir and Saiful.
After disembarking Jahangir while Sohag and Saiful reached on VIP Road of the upazila, then a gang of miscreants led by Md. Lalon, son of Kasem Muhuri of Wajirpur VIP Road area with his associates Imran, Mamun, Sajib, Altaf and others ambushed them at about 8:30 PM Thursday night.
The attackers left the place after chopping Sohag and Saiful severely and they were sent to Wajirpur health complex in critical condition.
Sohag was declared as dead and Saiful admitted at the health complex.
Police operating a drive arrested Kasem Mohuri, father of the alleged killer Lalon at night and sent the dead body to Barisal Sher e Bangla Medical College Morgue for autopsy, told OC Wajirpur PS.
There was old rivalry between Sohag and Lalon group over spreading
control in the area and Lalon also injured earlier by Sohag group some days ago, local sources said.
