‘Jatka Conservation Week-2019’, will be observed in 37 Hilsha inhabited areas of the country from March 10 to 16, to create mass awareness about preserving immature Hilsha or ‘Jatka’ to boost the production of the national fish.
A naval rally presided over by the State Minister of Fisheries and Livestock Ashraf Ali will take place after the official inauguration of the opening of ‘Jatka Conservation Week- 2019’ at Charfassion in Bhola. The decision was taken at a meeting of the National Task Force Committee for Hilsa preservation at the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock on Monday. The weeklong programme will include video shows and broadcast on television and radio to build awareness. The law enforcement authorities will conduct drives at fish markets to stop catching, trading and marketing of Jatka.
Secretary to the fisheries and livestock ministry, senior officials of the ministry and the taskforce were present, among others, at the meeting.
