A brilliant 90 runs by opener Rohan enabled Jatiya Press Club (JPC) team to earn a comprehensive 132-run victory over touring Tripura Sports Journalists Club (TSJC) in a T20 friendly cricket match at the Cricket Academy ground in Mirpur on Sunday.
Sent in to bat first, hosts JPC team scored 220 runs for 6 in stipulated 20 overs.
Rohan played an entertaining innings of 90 runs off 53 balls with eleven fours and four sixes to be adjudged man of the match while number five Rana blasted 42 runs off 21 balls with three fours and three sixes.
Besides, Rony (17), Rabeed (13), Isam (13) and Partha (11) were the other notable JPC batsmen who reached double figures.
Abhijit of TSJC grabbed two wickets for 29 runs while Pinaki, Swapan, Subodh and Anirban took one wicket apiece.
In reply, Tripura Sports Journalists Club were dismissed cheaply for 88 runs in 18.1 overs.
Opener Kiriti scored run-a-ball 21 with three fours and a six while another opener Swapan made 11 runs off 28 balls with one boundary.
Mesbah claimed three wickets for 14 runs and Isam grabbed two wickets for 15 runs while Shamim and Rabeed took one wicket each.
Prior to the match, JPC general secretary Syed Abdal Ahmed, executive director of match sponsor Walton (RB Group) Humayan Kabir, JPC senior Vice President Quazi Rownaq Hossain and JPC Sports Committee convener Nuruddin Ahmed were introduced to the players of the two teams.
JPC president Kamal Uddin Sabuj witnessed the day’s friendly match as chief guest and later distributed the trophies.
JPC general secretary Syed Abdal Ahmed, TSJC president Saroju Chakraborty, JPC senior Vice President Quazi Rownaq Hossain and JPC Sports Committee convener Nuruddin Ahmed spoke on the occasion.
