The Jatiya Party hoped for the ruling Awami League (AL) to back their candidate Rahgir Al Mahir (Saad Ershad) in the upcoming Rangpur-3 by-polls. “The Awami League will announce a decision regarding the Rangpur-3 polls soon,” Secretary General Mashiur Rahman Ranga told the media on Sunday.
He said that a committee has been formed to oversee the polls activity and the wards have already started working on behalf of party pick Saad Ershad.
The chief whip of opposition added that Jatiya Party will win a massive victory in the upcoming polls.
Rangpur-3 has been a Jatiya Party stronghold since 1986. The party’s founding chairman HM Ershad has won all the polls he has contested in that constituency.
The seat fell vacant following Ershad’s demise and the party has nominated his son to contest the by-polls scheduled for Oct 5.
