The two-day 32nd Jatiya Kabita Utsab 2018 will begin on the Dhaka University (DU) Central Library premises in the city on February 1.
Jatiya Kabita Parishad (JKP) is organizing the national poetry festival with the theme ‘Poetry for the struggle of people without country’, said JKP General Secretary Tarik Sujat at a press conference at Dhaka Reporters’ Unity (DRU) VIP auditorium in the city.
Poets and litterateurs from home and abroad will participate in the festival. So far, poets from different countries, including India, Sweden, the United Kingdom, Egypt, Mexico, Cameroon, Japan, Taiwan and Colombia have already confirmed their participations, he added.
Jatiya Kabita Utsab presidium member eminent poet Asad Chowdhury is expected to inaugurate the festival while JKP president Muhammad Samad will be in the chair.
The two-day festival would feature elaborate programmes, including recitation of poems, songs on Ekushey, seminars, discussions and exhibitions on poets and poetry.
This year’s festival, to be dedicated to late poet Sajjad Kadir, will end on February 2.
