A fine all-round performance by Kalabagan Cricket Academy Indian recruit Jatin S Saxsena saw them coasted to a comfortable five-wickets victory over Cricket Coaching School (CCS) in the rain-affected Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League held on Wednesday at Khan Shaheb Osman Ali Stadium in Fatullah, Narayanganj.
The match’s fate was decided by a Duckworth-Lewis method due to afternoon thunder shower. Chasing CCS’s paltry total of 185 runs in reduced 49 overs,
Kalabagan strolled into the target in 40.1 overs with five wickets in hand. Indian recruit Jatin S Saxena top scored with 87 runs and shared 109-run partnership skipper Mahmudul Hasan (46) for the third wicket to guide Kalabagan towards the easy victory.
Nasum Ahmed and Saleh Ahmed Shawo bagged two wickers apiece 31 and 54 runs respectively for CCS.
Earlier, CCS skipper Rajin Saleh won the toss and decided to bat first against Kalabagan Cricket Academy, but Rajin’s decision backfired immediately as he was the first batsman to be dismissed inside the second over, and his team were all at sea by over 27 when the scoreboard read 95 for 6. CCS was finally able to pick up and crawled to185 for 9 from their allotted 50 overs.
For CCS, the seventh wicket stand of 52 in 16.5 overs gave their total some degree of respectability. Amit Majumder contributed to CCS’s total with 38 from 83 while Mohammad Saifuddin added 28 from 55 balls.
For Kalabagan Cricket Academy Mahmudul captured three wickets for 37 in 10 overs while Jatin S Saxena bagged two wickets giving away 26 runs. He was later named the player of the match.
