Brisk preparations are afoot to hold the month long pollimela (village fair) under the style of Jasim pollimela commemorating the 113th birth anniversary of great folklore poet Jasimuddin will begin here on January 10 at village Gobindapur on the bank of Kumar river adjacent to the ancestral home and grave of the poet.
As an annual ritual since 1996, this attractive pollimela attracts thousands of people that depict the folk culture of rural Bangladesh along with modern entertainment persuasions presented by the artists of local and other places of the country.
Though the poet’s birth day was on January 1, but the fair is shifted due to some preoccupations of the organizers. District Administration and Jasim Foundation headed by Deputy Commissioner along with a number of sub-committees are working to make the fortnight long fair a success and attractive.
