Local administration has decided to put the whole district under lockdown for an indefinite period from Monday morning, to prevent transmission of coronavirus.
Deputy Commissioner Mohamamd Shafiul Arif, said the decision was taken on Sunday at a meeting held at the Circuit House.
The local administration took the decision amid concern over the growing number of coronavirus cases in the district.
No one will be allowed to enter or exit the district and all kinds of shops
them small amount of relief (10 kg rice, 3kg potato, one kg oil).
They gathered at the mill gate in the morning as they were given assurance that their arrears will be paid on April 26, the protesters said.
Mill manager Mizanur Rahman said around 800 workers were working at the mill and they failed to pay the workers as export of the mill’s products to India remained suspended due to coronavirus lockdown.
The workers will be paid after reopening of the mill this week, he said.
