Jatiyatabadi Samajik Sangskritik Sangstha (Jasas) on Sunday protested the attack on the BNP leaders, including Secretary General of BNP Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, at Ichhakhali Bazar in Rangunia of Chittagong district.
The leaders of the organisation demanded immediate arrest and punishment to the attackers, calling the attack a malpractice in politics.
Jasas President Professor Mamun Ahmed and General Secretary Helal Khan said this in a joint statement on Sunday.
“We condemn the attack as a team of the BNP did not want to go to Chittagong for doing politics, but stand by the landslide victims in need of time,” they said.
The leaders said that is why a team of the BNP leaders tried to visit the landslide areas. But the Awami League, Jubo League and Chhatra League cadres started hitting the vehicles with sharp weapons, iron rods and big stones when they reached Ichhakhali Bazar in Rangunia of Chittagong district.
