A two-member delegation of Kyushu University, Japan, led by its Deputy Director General of Art, Science and Technology Centre for Cooperative Research (KASTEC) Prof Dr Toru Tanigawa, met Dhaka University (DU) Vice-chancellor Prof Dr AAMS Arefin Siddique at his office on Thursday.
The other member of the delegation was Hiromi Yamada. Dean of the Faculty of Business Studies of DU Prof Shibli Rubayat-Ul-Islam, Prof of the Department of Marketing Dr Belayet Hossain, Assistant Prof Md Nazmul Hossain and Chairman of the Sonali Bank Ltd Dr Habibur Rahman were present on the occasion. During the meeting, the both sides discussed matters of mutual interest, especially possibilities of undertaking joint collaborative academic and research programmes between the Dhaka University and Kyushu University.
They also discussed about signing a memorandum of understanding in this regard soon.
The DU VC recalled the support and cooperation of Japanese people and media during Bangladesh’s Liberation War in 1971.
