UNB, Dhaka :
Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe is scheduled to arrive here on September 6 on a two-day official visit to which Japan is giving serious interest, said an official here on Tuesday.
However, there is no formal announcement yet from the Foreign Ministry here over the schedule of the visit.
“Your (BD) Prime Minister’s Japan visit has been very successful and our PM (Japan) is taking the visit very seriously,” a Japanese diplomat told the UNB correspondent wishing not to be named.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina visited Japan on May 25-28 this year at the invitation of her Japanese counterpart Shinzo Abe.
The diplomat, however, did not want to tell the specific date but mentioned they want to visit to take place before September 10.
Earlier, Bangladesh side proposed September 6-7 for the Japanese Prime Minister’s visit to Dhaka.
The wide range of bilateral issues, including trade, investment, connectivity, development and energy are likely to be there on the table for discussions.
Both the Prime Minister had a summit meeting in Tokyo on May 26 and reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthen bilateral cooperation by elevating the friendly relationship to a new partnership.
The two Prime Ministers thus launched the Bangladesh-Japan Comprehensive Partnership and decided to detail the modalities at the earliest.
