Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed said that a special economic zone for Japan will be established in Chittagong.
He made this disclosure to the media after a meeting with Japan Ambassador to Bangladesh Masato Watanabe at commerce ministry in city on Tuesday.
The minister further said that Bangladesh’s export to Japan has increased.
Bangladesh products are enjoying duty-free facilities under Japan’s generalized system of preferences (GSP), he added.
According to the minister, Japan will re-export the products of Bangladesh to other countries following the GSP facilities, BEPZA Chittagong office sources said.
