Japanese consultants to oversee works on 17 bridges

The government on Monday signed an agreement with a group of Japanese consultants to oversee construction works on 17 bridges, including Kalna Bridge over the Madhumati River, involving around Tk 2,500 crore.
The contract was signed between Roads and Highways Department (RHD) and a consortium of Japanese consultants at the Setu Bhaban in the city in the presence of Road Transport and Bridges Minister baidul Quader.
RHD chief engineer Ibne Hasan Alam and leader of lead partner Oriental Consultants Global Company Limited, Oriental Consultants Company Limited and Padco Company limited Atsushi Nishimura and managing director Ryohei Ishii inked the deal on behalf of their respective sides.
