UNB, Dhaka :
A Japanese delegation here on Monday said Bangladeshi workers can seize a great opportunity to work in Japan as it has a severe crisis of workers in various fields.
They said the Japanese government is thinking of taking 10 lakh workers to work in its various fields, including industries and construction, from different countries, including Bangladesh.
The delegation members said this at a meet-the-press programme on ‘Global Migration and Transnational Networks,’ jointly organised by College of Sociology, Rikkyo University and Asian People’s Friendship Society (APFS), Tokyo Japan, at Dhaka Reporters Unity (DRU) in the city.
Prof Tetsuo Mizukami, APFS founder Prof Yoshinari Katsuo, and its founder secretary general Masud Karim, among others, spoke on the occasion.
They said, Bangladeshi workers have the great opportunity to work in Japan particularly in the field of construction.
They told reporters that both the Rikkyo University and APFS are jointly conducting a research, focusing on Japan and Bangladesh relations.
The goal of the survey is to gather data by conducting intensive interviews with those Bangladeshis who have the experiences of living in Japan for a certain period.
According to them, there is no clear-cut policy of the government of Japan on the migrants living there, and the survey will highlight such matters so that it becomes easier for the workers who will go to Japan to work there.
They also said such initiatives need cooperation of all and it will bring much more benefits for Bangladesh in the future.
