Japan dump Bangladesh 8-0 in hockey

BSS, South Korea :Bangladesh national hockey team had a rude awakening as Japan dump them 8-0 goals in their pool A opening match of the 17th Asian Games held on Saturday at Seonhak Hockey Stadium in Incheon.Before things could settle down Japan shot into lead in the very 3rd minute through Hiroki Sakamoto’s splendid hit that gave no chance to Bangladesh custodian Ashim Gop under the bar.Eight minutes later Tomonori Ono doubled the margin for Japan with a brilliant reverse sweep from the left flank in the 11th minute to shoot into 2-0 lead in the first quarter minutes of the proceeding.Katsousi Nagasouwa widened the margin for Japan scoring the third goal converting a penalty corner in the 5th minute of the second quarter while Kenta Tanako further increased the margin scoring the fourth goal for Japan in the 3rd minute of third quarter.Bangladesh regrouped themselves and did not allow Japanese to increase the goal tally before the short whistle.But Japan came back smoking in the second half as the meant business.Kenta Tanako completed his hat-trick scoring the two more goals in the 12th minute of the third quarter and 3rd minute of the fourth quarter.Hiroki Sakamoto scored his second and seventh goal for Japan in the 4th minute of the fourth quarter while Katsousi Nagasouwa sealed the victory for Japan scoring the 8th goal in the dying moment of the match.As per the new law by the International Hockey Federation the match ended in 60 minutes that included three breaks.Bangladesh will play their second group match against Malaysia today (Sunday) and after a day’s rest their third match is against Singapore on September 23 at the same venue at 12 pm.The last pool match of Bangladesh against host South Korea will be played on September 27 at 4pm. All the matches will be played at the same venue.
