Under the auspices of Bagerhat District Unit of Bangladesh Puja Udjapan Committee ‘Janmastami’, one of the major religious ceremonies of the Hindu community, marking the holy birth anniversary of the Lord Sri Krisna was celebrated in Bagerhat district town on Friday with due festivity and religious fervour. It may be mentioned here that on this day God Sri Krisna appeared on the earth in the guise of a human being in order eradicate all the evils from the earth and establish a rule of law there.
The day’s programme started with the lightning of Mangol Prodip by Srimat Swami Gurusebananda, Chief Executive of Sri Sri Ramkrisna Asram, Bagerhat in the local Harisava Mandir in the morning (at about 10 am). It was followed by a lively discussion meeting held in front of Harisava Mandir on the life and works of God Sri Krishana with Amit Roy, President of Bagerhat District Janmastami Udjapan Committee in the chair. addressed the meeting as Al-haj Dr. Mozammel Hossain, MP of Bagerhat Constituency-4, President of Bagerhat district unit of Bangladesh Awami League and a former mionister addressed the meeting as the chief guest while it was addressed among others by Md. Mamunur Rashid, DC, Bagerhat and Pankaj Chandra Roy, Police Super of Bagerhat as special guests..
Barishal Correspondent reports: Members of the Hindu community celebrated ‘ Shuva Janmastami’, one of their major religious festivals marking the birth anniversary of Lord Sri Krishna, in Barishal city on Friday with due religious devour and enthusiasm.
The day’s program began with bringing out a colorful traditional Janmastami processions from Line Road crossing of the city at 11:30 am. The precession moving different roads of the city ended at Ramkrishna Mission of the town.
Participants of the procession carrying musical instruments, placards, banners, festoons, traditional motifs, displayed drama scenes on events of life and works of the Lord Krishna.
Bijoy Krishna Dey, businessman and hindu community leader, was chief guest and Gazi Nazmul Hasan Litu, panel mayor of Barishal City Corporation, was special guest, of the programmes.
Rakhal Chandra Dey , president Dharma Rakkhini Sava, presided over the inaugural function of the festival addressed among others by Mrinal Kanti Saha, secretary of the Sava and other leaders of the community.Activists of International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON), also participated in the programmes. Prizes for the best colorful displays of the rally were distributed at the end of the rally at Barishal Ramakrishna Mission. Worship (puja) of Sree Krishna, Pala Kirtan, Harinam Sankirton, Ramayan Gaan, recitations from Sreemat Bhagobat Geeta and Puran, cultural function, distribution of ‘prasad’ and feeding to the poor for seeking divine blessings for peace and prosperity of the community, nation and counry also held at Ramakrishna Mission on this occasion.
Netrakona Correspondent says: State Minister for Fisheries and Live Stock Ashraf Ali Khan Khasru MP on Friday said here that Bangladesh is the country of communal harmony in the world , people of all walks of life irrespective of cast, creed and religion have been living together in the country in a peaceful atmosphere from the time immemorial.  
“Bangladesh has become as a ‘ glaring example’ of communal harmony in the world, people of all faiths and religions have been living together here peacefully and celebrating their respective religious festivals independently amidst harmony ” he said adding that none would be allowed to destroy the communal harmony in the name of fundamentalism or militancy.
BSS from Khulna adds: Janmashtami, the birth day of Lord Sri Krishna and one of the biggest religious festivals of the Hindu community, was celebrated here yesterday with much enthusiasm.
On the occasion, Khulna city and district unit Puja Udjapon Parisad brought out a procession led by City Mayor Talukder Abdul Khaleque that began from Arjya Dharmasabha Temple in the city and paraded the main streets.
