NB, Dhaka :
The country’s Hindu community will celebrate Janmashtami, marking the birth of Lord Krishna, on Saturday with festivity and religious fervour. The day is a public holiday.
Different socio-cultural and religious organisations, including Bangladesh Puja Udjapan Parishad and Mohanagar Sarbajanin Puja Committee, have taken elaborate programmes to mark the day.
The progammes include puja, Geeta Jagna, Kirtan, discussions and peace processions.
The traditional Janmashtami procession will be brought out from Dhakeswari Temple. Similar programmes have
been chalked out across the country to mark Lord Krishna’s birthday. Meanwhile, President Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina have issued separate messages greeting the Hindu community on the occasion.
