Janmashtami celebrated

The Hindu community celebrated observed the Janmashtami Festival with religious fervor and delight in the port city Chittagong on Monday.
 The Hindu community brought out a colorful procession with the sculptures of Lord Krishna and other lords of Hindu’s in the city.
 The colorful procession started from the Anderkillah point at around 10.30 am. Mayor of Chittagong City Corporation (CCC) and General Secretary of Chittagong City Awami League A J M Nasir Uddin inaugurated the procession as Chief Guest.
At that time, the President and General Secretary of Chittagong south District Committee of Awami League Moslem Uddin Ahamod and Mofizur Rahman respectively were present as special guests. Besides, leaders of Hindu community were also present at the inaugural function.
The leaders of Chittagong Puja Utjapon Parishad, Janmashtami Parishad and Hindu community led the procession. The procession rounded the important roads and ended at Nandan Kanon Mondir premises.
The law enforcing agencies particularly Chittagong Metropolitan Police (CMP) had taken special security measures for the Janmashtami function and procession. CMP Commissioner Iqbal Bahar said police took special measures for controlling the law and order situation on the Janmashtami function and procession in the port city like every year.
Thousands of people irrespective of ages, colour cast and creed attended the procession. The four day long programs also include illumination of temples, arranging discussion meeting and distribution of sweets, holding Rishi and Boisnab conference, recitation from the holy books (Pabitra Namkirtan), exhibition, scholarship handover among meritorious students and distribution of Prashad, fasting, offering puja, special prayers and recitation from the holy Geeta and feeding to destitute. Huge members of the law enforcing agencies including RAB and police have been deployed in several kilometers of the city.
