A Namaz-e-Janaza of Dr Mohammad Selim, former parliament member and ex-Presidium member of Bangladesh Awami League, was held at South Plaza of the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban here yesterday after Asr prayers. After the janaza, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina placed a wreath on the coffin of Dr Selim, a Parliament Secretariat release said. On behalf of the President, his assistant military secretary laid a wreath on the coffin. Later, Speaker of the Jatiya Sangsad Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury, Deputy Speaker Md Fazle Rabbi Mian and Chief Whip ASM Feroz placed wreath on thecoffin. On behalf of Leader of the Opposition Begum Raushan Ershad, Jatiya Party lawmaker Nurul Islam Omar laid a wreath. Central leaders of 14-party also placed wreath.Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed, Prime Minister’s Special Envoy Hussain Muhammad Ershad, LGRD and Cooperatives Minister Syed Ashraful Islam, Expatriates Welfare and Overseas Employment Minister Engineer Khandakar Mosharraf Hossain, Health Minister Mohammad Nasim, Land Minister Shamsur Rahman Sharif Dilu, Whips of the Jatiya Sangsad, parliament members as well as officials and employees of parliament attended the janaza.A munajat was offered on the occasion, seeking eternal peace of the departed soul.Dr Selim, eldest son of national leader late Captain M Mansur Ali and elder brother of Health Minister Mohammad Nasim, died of a stroke at a London hospital on Thursday.
