DU Correspondent :
Dhaka University Teachers’ Association (DUTA) President, Professor Maksud Kamal on Sunday said, the incident of January 23 is a conspiracy against DU administration. The conspirators wanted to prove us as failed administrators but they did not succeed.
He came up with the comment responding to question of journalists after a human-chain at the alter of Aparajeyo Bangla on the campus.
DUTA organized the human-chain in protest against vandalism at the office of the Vice-Chancellor (VC) and office of the Proctor and against the indecent behavior with VC.
Professor Samad, Professor Muhammad Sadeka Halim, Professor Nizamul Haque Bhuyan, Professor Saumitra Shekhor, Professor sabita Rezona Rahman, Professor Ziaur Rahman, Professor Zinat Huda, Professor Ataur Rahman Miazi, Assistant Professor Hafizur Rahman Curzon spoke among other at the human-chain.
Responding to question why administration did not call police, Maksud Kamal said, there is a culture on the campus that if the administration calls police then they would politicize it chanting slogan “Campuse Police Keno, Prosason Jobab Dao.” That’s why we together teachers and students solved it. “By fair and neutral investigation identifying the outsiders, we will took them under the punishment,” he added.
He also said, if they have demands then we can discuss about it, but they showed desperate attitude. It can not be the language of a movement. “ I think this is a conspiracy and aimed at taking political advantage. So we do not let it implemented,” he added.
DUTA Executive Member, Professor Muhammad Samad (Kabi Samad) said, We told them to submit a memorandum and also told them to send a delegation for discussion about their demands. But they did not send any delegation. They demanded that VC should come in front them and announce acceptance of their demands. University administration has to maintain some rules, it can’t respond to every demand. “Students or outsiders who were involved with the destructive work have to face disciplinary punishment,” he added.
Dean of Social Science Faculty, Professor Sadeka Halim said, we have also seen the video footage of the incident of January 15. If that happened we protest the incident.
“But to judge the incident complainants have to cooperate with the administration. Still now we did not get any type of cooperation from them,” she added.
