The Influx of the Rohingya refugees from Myanmar is a major humanitarian crisis in Bangladesh. Since 12 September 2017, with the permission of the local authority, Dhaka Community Hospital Trust (DCHT) and Community Initiative Society (CIS) have been providing emergency health services, mother and child health care, distribution of nutritional food packs, and public health campaign.
Till now, the health service had serve over 200,000 Rohingya people. At present, DCHT and partners such as Peace Wind Japan are providing 24 hours health service to host community and Rohingya people in Hakimpara through the operating one static clinic and mobile clinics.
To enhance the local health system, Dhaka Community Hospital Trust (DCHT) and Community Initiative Society (CIS) joined with MERCY Malaysia established a primary health care centre in Camp No. 15, Jamtoli. This clinic will provide overall primary health care services for the community around the area.
The ceremony was inaugurated by Malaysian High Commissioner to Bangladesh, Mdm. Nur Ashikin binti Mohd Taib along with Prof. Quazi Quamruzzaman, Chiarman of Dhaka Community Trust (DCHT), MD Golam Mostofa, Director of Project & Research (DCHT), Dr. Omar Sharif Ibn Hasan, Associate Professor, Paediatric Dept. Dhaka Community Hospital, Ir. Hanafi Ramli, Executive Council Member of MERCY Malaysia and Dr. Nasuha yaacob ,Gynecologist, MERCY Malaysia EXCO on Friday.
